5 Magnetic tile Dinosaurs - Building & Play Ideas

Dinosaurs tend to be a very popular topic to learn about. A 2008 study* found that sustained intense interests, particularly in a conceptual domain like dinosaurs, can help children develop increased knowledge and persistence, a better attention span, and deeper information-processing skills. Meaning that they as more engaged as learners.


Use your magnetic tiles to explore and learn more about the world of dinosaurs. Magnetic tiles are a great resource and toy for toddlers, kindergarteners and school age children. They are open ended toys that can easily be used in combined play with a variety of other toys and loose parts for STEAM and imaginative play.


Below we have listed some dinosaur building and play ideas for your little ones:


1. Dinosaur


Design inspired by our favourite fictional dinosaur Yoshi. Our youtube video teaches kids how to build this fun creation.

2. Apatosaurus 2D


A simple yet engaging creation, combine with other toys for small world play.


Apatosaurus fun fact: Apatosaurus, which is considered to be one of the largest land animals of all time, weighed as much as 41 tonnes (approx. 45 tons) and measured up to 23 metres (about 75 feet) long, including its long neck and tail

If you don't have a trapezium in your magnetic tile collection you can also use three equilateral triangles.


3. Stegosaurus


Your little ones can personalise their creations using Magbrix, Lego and Duplo


Fun fact: The meaning of Stegosaurus is 'roofed lizard'; Stegosaurus had brains the size of ping pong balls


4. Tyrannosaurus - T-Rex 3D


Extended build design from the Brontosaurus.


T-Rex Fun fact: Tyrannosaurus Rex means 'Tyrant Lizard'; the largest T. Rex tooth found is 30 cm (12 inches) long



If you don't have a trapezium in your magnetic tile collection you can also use a square and two right angle triangle pieces OR three equilateral triangles.


5. Dinosaur Puzzle
