STEM HUB.png

The Stem Hub provides a learning environment hosted in a public space across different markets in NSW. This pop up learning centre offers a variety of activities with different educational resources for children from 3 years up to 15 years.

Our objective is to allow children to engage in a real learning-through-play experience by allowing them to investigate and put their creativity in action.

We invite you and your family to be part of the Hub so that, together, you may learn together the wonders of STEM through play!

WHAT DO WE HAVE AT THE HUB?

We have lots of educational resources that children can play with, including different types of building blocks like magnetic tiles, Lepao, Robo Tami and Magkinder. We also offer opportunities for older kids to learn coding with Cubetto, Interlino the smart train or our very friendly robot from Magcoding, as well as a variety of Geology resources to explore rocks, gems, geodes, crystals, fossils and other wonders of the Earth's surface.

TERMS AND CONDITIONS

  • For insurance purposes, every parent/guardian that enters the Stem Hub must sign a waiver for any child under the age of 18 that is under their care. No exceptions. JC Ingenium has the right to refuse entry if a parent or guardian does not sign a waiver.

  • No shoes are allowed (unless required for a medical or physical condition). Children and parents must wear socks or be barefoot. This is both for safety and to minimise damage to our educational materials.

  • All our staff have a clear and up-to-date  Working with Children Check. You are welcome to request to see it at any time.

  • Children are allow to bring water in a non-glass bottle, but no cups or any other liquids are allowed.

  • Children aged 0 to 5 are required to have a parent/guardian present at all times while visiting the Hub.

  • Not all of our activities are appropriate for children younger than 4 years. We advise parents/guardians to monitor their children at all times during their visit to our learning space to ensure they are playing safely and not detracting from the experience of others (e.g. knocking down other children's projects). There may also be small objects present throughout our learning space that could pose a chocking hazard to younger children. It is the parent/guardian's responsibility to ensure the safety of the child(ren) they are responsible for.

  • You will be notified by SMS if your child wishes to leave the Hub. However, please be advised that children are not allow to leave unless a parent or carer is present to collect them.

  • We will treat your child with kindness and respect when you visit our Hub. In return, we expect your child to listen to our staff or other responsible adults and follow simple instructions. We also expect them to treat any other visitors with respect and kindness. If your child does not comply with these expectations, or is generally disruptive to the extent that their behavior affects their or the other children's ability to engage and enjoy, we reserve the right to remove them from the Hub.

  • We have a 2 hour time frame policy for single entry, with as many toilet breaks as required. However, please be advised that any break over 10 minutes will be treated as  you/your child ending the session and a re-entry fee may apply to return to the Hub.

  • During School Holidays the session for a single entry is 90 minutes maximum.

WHAT ADULTS CAN DO IN THE MEAN TIME?

  • Many parents and caregivers enjoy getting hands-on and participating in everything we offer, from magnetic tile building to playing with robots. We find the more involved the caregivers get, the more engaged the children are. Others prefer to take a more hands-off approach. Both are acceptable, though remember that parents and caregivers must always be directly supervising their children while at the Stem Hub, so we encourage you to join in - you may just love it!

  • As the Stem Hub is hosted at a market, parents can find many stalls to visit. Why not have a wander and buy some flowers, fresh bread or gifts including candles, stationery, beauty, health products? There is also an area to sit down and rest or enjoy the live music with a nice coffee. Please remember that you must be present in the Hub and supervising your child(ren) if they are between 0 and 5 years old.
